FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
On this page, we have listed some of the most Frequently Asked Questions about Abundant
Life Health & Fitness. Hopefully you will be able to find the answers to any questions you may
have. If for any reason you are still unsure about something, please Contact Us and we will be
happy to serve you!
Q: Where are you located?
A: Thanks to the generosity of its owner, we are fortunate to share a space with the Alabama
Karate Academy in Wetumpka. (see address and map of location). Occasionally we can
come with you to your gym, but some facilities do not allow personal trainers, or they charge
extra for bringing a trainer with you.
Q: What are your business hours?
A: We are currently have the following days/times available for weekend appointments:
Fridays: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Saturdays - 6:00 am - 7:00 pm
Sundays - 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
*Please contact us for weekday appointment availability!
Q: What kind of equipment will I need?
A: Our flexible Personal Training service allows us to design a fitness program based on
what you already have in your home, or even no equipment at all. If you wish to learn how to
work with equipment during instructional training sessions, your trainer can bring the
necessary equipment to the session, or we can work with your existing equipment. You are
under no obligation to purchase additional equipment unless it is something you want to
buy. All you'll need is a towel and a bottle of water.
Q: I've heard that personal training is expensive. How much does it
cost?
A: Our fees, located on the "Training Fees" page on this site, are actually quite reasonable!
In fact, you may have noticed that our prices are significantly less expensive than what other
"big city" trainers charge for similar services. Our trainers are just as qualified to provide
such services, yet we charge less than others do because one of our many goals is to
provide a ministry as well as a health and fitness service to our clients.
Q: I just found out that I'm pregnant, and I want to start exercising so I
don't gain too much weight. Is it safe for me to exercise with a
personal trainer?
A: Absolutely! Contrary to popular belief, it is quite safe for healthy pregnant women (with a
normal pregnancy and their physician's approval, of course) to begin a modified fitness
program. We follow the ACOG guidelines to the letter when designing training programs for
our pregnant clients. You can call us for more information on the benefits of exercising
during pregnancy, or visit the ACOG web site by clicking here. Your physician's medical
clearance is required.
Q: Personal trainers are supposed to be really tough, and I've never
exercised before. Do you have programs for beginners?
A: Yes, we are qualified to work with healthy clients of all fitness levels, especially
beginners! As for trainers being "tough", Abundant Life Personal Trainers are friendly,
courteous, and professional at all times. We are as far as you can possibly get from the
"boot-camp-style" trainers that you see on television! We certainly don't yell at our clients,
nor do we ever push clients beyond their fitness levels. But it is part of your trainer's job to
motivate you to work hard and encourage you to "give it all you've got" in order to get the
results that you desire. Getting in shape is not always comfortable or easy, but we can get
there together! (And as always with ALHF, client safety comes first.)
Q: I work out daily. Why can't you train me every single day?
A: There are several reasons why we do not train clients on a daily basis. Firstly, ALHF
(unfortunately) is not a full-time service at this time, and therefore only has part-time hours
available. As we continue to grow, we will update and expand our hours of operation
(located on the "Contact Us" page on this site).
Secondly, once we design your program and you can safely perform it to our mutual
satisfaction, your trainer will ideally only continue to train with you periodically to ensure that
you are still performing the exercises correctly. We will also check your progress and make
any necessary additions, changes, or modifications to your fitness program at this time, as
well as adding challenge and/or variety to your workouts. Believe it or not, one of our main
goals is to prepare our clients with enough education that a trainer will no longer be needed!
Q: I just want an individualized program design. Can you help?
A: Yes! It has been our experience, especially during recent times of economic hardship,
that many individuals do not wish to exercise with a trainer every time they work out. We
understand, and can tailor your fitness program to fit your specific needs and goals. Most of
our programs are designed to be performed without assistance. For example, if you are:
• an experienced exerciser or athlete, looking for new and challenging ways to
exercise
• an independent exerciser who wants an exercise plan to take to the gym
• a traveling client who wants a program designed to help them stay fit while away
from home or on vacation (and yes, we will call your hotel and find out what
equipment they have for you to work with, if you like!)
• a recent ALHF client who has a new piece of exercise equipment and needs
additional instructions or ideas for how to use it
• other situations considered on a case-by-case basis... just give us a call!
Q: I have a medical condition, but my doctor says it would be good for
me to exercise to improve my health. Can you work with me?
A: Medical professionals and researchers agree that light to moderate exercise is beneficial
in relieving the symptoms of many health conditions, such as hypertension, high
cholesterol, and obesity. We agree! But before an Abundant Life Personal Trainer can begin
working with you, your physician must first sign a release indicating that it is safe for you
begin an exercise program. The release paperwork will also give your physician the
opportunity to indicate if there are any restrictions, conditions, modifications, or concerns
regarding your ability to exercise or your tentative exercise plans. Some physicians prefer
for those with serious medical conditions to work with a medical professional, such as a
physical therapist. But when you are healthy enough to exercise, most doctors will gladly
work with your personal trainer to help you reap the many benefits of a supervised exercise
program!
How do I contact you for an appointment?
A: You can give us a call at (334) 318-7881, or you can simply visit the Contact Us page to
request an appointment. We look forward to working with you!
